aspiring pr professional
I chose American University because I wanted a school that would allow me to pursue the arts while also exploring other academic interests. During my freshman and sophomore years, I took a variety of classes and quickly fell in love with Public Relations. That discovery led me to declare a Dual Degree, combining my passions for Theatre and PR.

What excites me most about Public Relations is how it builds on the communication and interpersonal skills I’ve developed as a performing artist, while encouraging me to think creatively about how to share ideas, stories, and messages with the world. I see incredible potential in merging my Theatre and PR training, especially in theatre communications, and ultimately, achieving my dream of becoming an Artistic Director.

So far, I’ve taken courses in PR writing, research, event planning, team collaboration, and case studies. I’m eager to dive deeper into areas like social media marketing and opinion writing. Outside the classroom, I apply my skills as a staff writer for DC Theater Arts, the region’s largest theatrical journal. As I head into my second year with DCTA, I’m excited to continue growing as a writer and expanding my work to other outlets. I am currently exploring part-time opportunities in theatre communications and administrative roles to keep learning and contributing to the arts world through my skills in PR.
